Coincidentally (or not) Obama and his administration repeatedly pushed the narrative that the judicial system was unfair and outdated and helped stoke racial tension by commuting more sentences than the previous 13 Presidents combined including 568 life sentences. So alot of people from 2015-2020 were released back into society who had a chip on their shoulder and a rather biased and unfair disposition towards police. So YES! Patrick’s assertion that policies do the opposite of what they intend is really a fair assessment in this case. Police aren’t the problem. Politicians are equally (or more) to blame. Politicians make the policy and law enforcement is burdened with enforcing those policies. It’s not a simple problem, but politicians need to be held accountable every bit as much as police and the communities and families that are raising these men.
