Interview with Doug Fabrizio of Utah PBS Station KUED
Doug Fabrizio of Utah’s KUER and KUED (our local NPR and PBS affiliates) did radio and TV interviews with me this last month. We had never met before, and he clearly spent time researching and preparing for our meetings. As a result, he asked intelligent questions and we had, I think, two good discussions on everything from Warren Buffett to development economics & Worldstock, school vouchers, Wall Street’s financial corruption, Catholicism, Zen, Daoism, Mormonism, and the new bigotry.
Here is the TV interview: http://kued.org/productions/utahnow/
The link to the radio interview is in the post below.
Compare these to the puerile half-truth-loaded bickerings of CNBC and that ilk. It was great to deal, at last, with a journalist who is able to do his own research, think independently, and is unafraid of stepping away from the conformism that has turned financial journalism into little more than an ongoing cover-up.

I understand Mr. Byrne not wanting to mix his personal politics with the business he is resposible for running. However, if enough of his customers are outraged by Ron Paul’s exclusion from the Jan 6th debates, then he should react to his customers concerns. I’m disappointed that he didn’t do that.

PLEASE keep your politics to yourself. I love Overstock.com, but I do not appreciate you forcing your personal views on your customers. Knock it off!

Barbara,
OK, well…. point taken. I don’t agree with it, but it is not without merit. I certainly did not want to offend. It may seem like a small thing, but I’m not the guy mixing business with politics. Some Ron Paul supproters are doing so in quite an organized fashion. I can safely say that I have never received so many phone calls and emails on any issue, as I have been receiving concerning this Fox issue. Given that they are going to the market to organize a boycott based on their political message, I felt it legitimate to reply into that same market. But your point is taken.
Best,
Patrick

I have unsubscribed to Overstock.com and do not intend to purchase from your company again. How dare you use a commercial solicitation to sway others to your political view. Keep your opinions to yourself and just sell your junk.

Laura,
Well, as I said, I thnk that if others are out there trying to organize a boycott, then they are the ones mixing commercial and political spheres, and that I am doing the right thing to address them (though by engaging with them I am, by definition, also engaged in the commercial and political spheres as well).
Respect,
Patrick
